Counselling after an adult autism diagnosis
A new autism diagnosis in adulthood can turn your understanding of yourself upside down. Relief, grief, anger, and confusion often arrive together. I offer neurodiversity-affirming counselling to help you come to terms with the changes you are experiencing — without being asked to mask or minimise who you are.
Does this sound familiar?
- Has a recent autism diagnosis changed how you see your entire life?
- Are you grieving the years you spent not knowing — or angry about how long it took?
- Do you feel relief and confusion at the same time — and not know what happens next?
- Are you re-examining relationships, career choices, and memories through a new lens?
- Do you wonder who you are now — and whether people around you will understand?
What we can explore
- Processing the diagnosis — grief, relief, anger, and identity shifts.
- Reframing your past with new understanding — without blame or shame.
- Masking, burnout, and the cost of getting through undiagnosed.
- Telling family, friends, or employers — and managing their reactions.
- Building a life that works for your autistic brain, not against it.
What to expect
I work affirmingly with neurodivergent clients and understand that a diagnosis is a beginning, not an endpoint. Sessions follow the full counselling journey — stabilising first, then exploring root causes and building towards genuine resolution. In person in Wednesbury (WS10) or online across the Black Country. £45 per session.
